Yes! The prefect's leadership camp is in Tekam Plantation Resort!!! At first I was quite upset about it... What the heck? Last year we were just there. But then, never mind lar... I sorta enjoyed it anywayz, the crowd was different.
Day 1, Friday
Today was the celebration of teachers' day. Well, it was first ok ok. Then, as things past by, suddenly some one came and say, "I heard that dedication u made. 'You're the spice of my life,' woo hoo..." I like, "what the..." Then, all the explanations started. Stupid Cheng Lee... Dedicate to WS for wat??? As if she was in school that day... Anyway, the dya ended rather quickly. Soon, we were ready to set off to Tekam. When we did, we got our seats, and the bus went. Alex... was... very 'high' cuz the two girls, Sherene and Serene, were in front... And I think it's also cuz they had marshmallows... That's y Alex remained like that (physically) And while we were watching "Monster-in-law", Alex just could never shut up... So I think the whole bus sorta knew about her. Surprisingly, Sheryl didn't know. =P
Anyway, the show ended and we proceeded to "Pink Panther". The one part that couldn't get off our mind was the teaching of "I would like to buy a hamburger". Not long after the show ended, we entered Tekam and Kuo Jian needed to pee badly. We were laughing and all, and when the bus stopped, he rushed down and towards the toilet. In the hall, everyone gathered. There, we were given our keys and a green programme book, with all our teams on. I was the facilitator of group 10. My members were: Brian, Hoong Leong, Mary, Suet Yee, Yuen Yi, Jing Tao, Jaclyn, Sek Hoong, Ezreena and Hwee Phen.
We went back to room, put everything, got ready and all. Around 7.30, we gathered in the hall, where we were 'sent' to the cafeteria to have dinner. Right after dinner ended, we re-entered the hall, and were told about the night walk. After the briefing, we started to move towards the plantation. On the way into the dark plantation we used torchesto light our way. Then we stopped at a point where we were told to feel the quietness in the dark. After a few moments, we were told to walk back, without torch lights. Instead two teams would have a candle each and would walk at the same time back. That was our only source of light. Everyone made it out. After we gathered in the hall, we had supper and that was the end of day 1. Well, in the room, Zhi, Alex and I talked about friendship and about how people change as they proceed in life, and also of our groups of friends. We slept at around 1.15am. Well, we didn't have quite a good sleep cuz the air condition was freezing us...
Day 2, Saturday
Officially woke up at around 7am, right after Zhi came out from the toilet. Sat idle on the bed as Alex made his way into the toilet to fix his contact lenses. I changed. When Alex left, I used the toilet. I did all the things as quick as possible and made my way to the morning exercise ground. I was on time. There, we lined up and got ready for exercise. First we did the warm up, legs --> hips --> hands --> head. Then was the exercise, "star jump". We did three kinds, first was hands to the side, second was hands to the side and then to clap above the head, and the third was one hand to the front and the other to the side. After the long exercise, cuz there was this bonus and crap cuz some people just could not do the countings correctly, we went for breakfast. Thereafter, we headed to the hall and were divided into two big groups.Group 1 would be going for caving, and Group 2 (where I was in) was to go for rafting.
At the rafting area, we gathered all our equipments and were ready for rafting. We used PVC pipes to make our rafts. We had a short tea break. Then, we were off to the stream. We got ourselves all wet while getting on the raft. When we were ready, we started to row towards the ending point. *Row row row row* Heck.... My group was the last... but nevermind, the race only began after everyone's at the ending point. 3, 2, 1... Go!!! We went racing back to the starting point. My group made it there as the 3rd. ^^ Yay!!! Right after, we went and disemble our raft and return the equipments. We were asked to go back, either to shower or to have our lunch. I went to take a shower and then went to have a quiet lunch. Not many people were there for lunch. We waited for the other group to get back from caving. When they did, we made our way up the bus and off we went towards the cave.
After the briefing in front of the entrance towards the 'jungle', we moved in group by group in single file. Soon, we found ourselves in front of Gua Angin. There, we walked slowly for there was a small hole whereby we were supposed to climb in. After making our way into the hall and above the big open area of the cave, we were given a short time to take pictures. Thereafter, we moved on deeper into the cave. To one point there was this very steep slope. There was a rope, but we were not supposed to use it on our way down the slope. We sat on the slope and slowly slide our way down the slope. As we reached the bottom, there was a big open space where all of us were to sit. It was considered a slope, but it was not really steep. It lead to an open space. When everyone was down the steep slope, we were told to elect a leader to hold on to a small candle and all the torch lights were 'confiscated'. The teachers went out with all the torch lights. We were to wait till around 20 minutes later only could we begin to move towards the exit with what's left ofthe candle. Obediently, we obey. When it was time, we moved on as we used tissue papers to light the path for the others behind. Zhi and I went to navigate for the exit as Jason, Yee Eng and Rachel helped the others to gather at the open space. When we were out, we told them to climb upwards towards the exit and one by one they came up slowly. When everyone was out of the cave, we lined up, and made our way out of the place.
We headed back and went back to our chalets. after preparing everything, we went to have our dinner. After dinner everyone gathered in the hall. Then, we had a human chess game. Facilitators would be judging the game. I was in charge of judging group 1. The game was quite long. The members had to make their own 8X8 board with raffia strings. They had to figure out the way out. Facilitators would tell the members if they've stepped on a bomb. When everyone was done, the points were read out. Well, the points were unbelievable, but nevermind lar. We had a group discussion and then supper. After that we returned to our chalets. This night, we talked of Alex's story. Alex tried to see if Zhi was listening and said, "...and I ate a doughnut and drank orange juice, then the grape juice began to flow down the river." Zhi heard and shouted, "WHAT!?!?! U did IT with her?" Then, there goes the laughing all night. Hehe.... That was the second night. We made sure the air-con aws at low and that the temperature is rather high to ensure a more comfortable sleep.
Day 3, Sunday
This day was one very interesting day. We woke up and proceeded to the exercise area. There, we performed the previous day's exercise and added a few more, which was the "massage the person in front of you" exercise. We got to torture the person in front. Hehee.... Then, it was breakfast. Thereafter we were divided into the two big groups again and one went for obstacle and mine went for flying fox. We made our way towards the flying fox area. The facilitators got to do the activity first and the first person was Yean Xin!!! ^^
The scary part was going up the stairs. It felt like I'd fall anytime, but the gliding was really fun, wish I could do it again. Right after my flying fox, I sat around and played some game dat was pretty much the same as "zhi ku ba". After everyone was done, we went to have a short tea break. Thereafter, we sat around and discussed about the performances while waiting for the other group to finish the obstacle course. It turned out that we had to return to the cafeteria and have our lunch before we would proceed to our obstacle courses. The sad thing about this was that it began to rain when we began our short little "raja dan permaisuri hutan" game. That was not it, the rain was freezing and there was this cold wind blowing. Everyone was freezing to death but yet we continued.
After that, we went to the usual "carry your whole group throuhg this tiny space without touching anything around" obstacle course. This took quite sometime. And later, we had the "shaking bridge" obstacle course. Here, it ended fairly fast. We had our tea break after this. After this, we went back and gathered at the open grass field. There, we were told to return to the chalets and clean up. We went back, properly showered and all, and were in the hall to have our group discussions. The facilitators, when gathered, went elsewhere to discuss about the little sketch we were planning to do.
We had quite a lot of fun preparing for it, and had as much fun presenting it much later on. After all the preparations, we gathered again in the hall and were led to our dinner location, somewhere in some really awesome "hotel" inside the plantation resort. The place was cool and really big and all, and there was a swimming pool.... We sat in groups and was soon eating the most delicious meal in the whole camp, d BBQ dinner. There was rice, chicken, lamb, fish, sausage and some vegetables. After the delightful dinner, we had our performance time. The sketches were really interesting. Well, after all the groups' performances, it was the facilitators turn. It may be the best sketch that night. =P I still can't get that phrase off my mind "Balik Kampung lar!" lolz...
Then there was a short period of karaoke. It was getting late and we were dismissed from there. We returned that night to our chalets feeling really exhausted. That night, my chalet was very quiet. We slept without much talking. Everyone was tired. That was the end of the day...
Last day, Monday
This was the last day, it was so hard to believe that the camp came to an end so fast. Well, it was the end anyway. We had our breakfast at the coffee shop in the very nice hotel where we had our dinner the previous night. After that, we went back and gatered in the hall. We got ourselves into 3 groups, bus A, B and C. Then, we were off. We had only one stop throughout the journey back. The way back was very much faster than when we went to Tekam. I went back soon after we arrived in school. That was the end of this entry...
