Thoughts for the day: Knight in shining armour
Read about this story and find it a true depiction of how men are...
Extracted from the famous book on relationships: "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" - John Gray.
A knight in shining armour was travelling the countryside.. Then he heard a woman crying out for help and rushes to her rescue at her castle, where she is trapped by a dragon. He draws out his sword and slays the dragon! He is then received lovingly by the princess. He ends up staying with the princess as they fell in love.
In a month's time, he goes out for another trip. On his way back to the castle, he hears his beloved princess crying for help. Another dragon has attacked the castle. The knight pulls out his sword and rushes towards the dragon. But this time, the princess shouts out to the knight, "Use this noose, it will work better!"
She throws him a noose and motions to him how to use it. Hesitantly, he follows her instructions and slays the dragon with the noose. At the celebration dinner, he feels he didn't do anything and not worthy of the celebration since he used her noose and not his sword to slay the dragon. He is left slightly depressed...
In another month's time, he goes out for yet another trip. The princess reminds him to be careful and to take along the noose. On his way back, he sees yet another dragon attacking the castle. He rushes front with his sword to confront the dragon, but hesitates, thinking he should use the noose instead. The dragon attacks him and wounds him. This time he sees the princess waving from atop her tower, "Use the poison, the noose won't work!"
She throws him the poison, which he pours into the dragon's mouth and the dragon dies. Everyone rejoices and celebrates, but the knight feels ashamed.
A month later, he goes for another trip. The princess reminds him to take the noose and poison on his journey apart from his sword. He is annoyed but he brings them anyway.
This time on his journey he hears another woman in distress. He rushes to aid the woman and he feels alive and confident again. He sees yet another dragon and this time draws out his sword. With this new situation, he ignores the noose and poison and charges at the dragon with renewed confidence, remembering how he felt back in the days when he only carried his sword. He slays the dragon and the townspeople rejoices.
The knight in shining armour never returned return to his princess. He stayed in this new village and eventually marries the woman, but only after learning that she knew nothing about nooses and poisons.
Men need to be trusted, acceptance, appreciated, admired, approved and encouraged for him to feel the love. Too much care and assistance may work against your best interest, ladies =P
Hey, finally finished the book you gave me. Assuming you have read it, I hope you can carry forward with a better heart and experience, as I will. Spending the past year without you, I have experienced things that I have not before, and it's probably for the best. I still feel it whenever you come into the picture. Guess I can never let it go, but yeah.. got a lot of things to work on on my side as well. May this coming year be a more fruitful one, for the both of us. Cheers~
