Thoughts for the day: Prologue
“Look at the sky, it’s raining again. Ahh… How I’d love the scenery like this! Hey, hey, still remember that day? It was also raining like this, with the sunray
piercing the clouds as it rains. There! Our rainbow of love! You see it? You do, don’t you?”
Then, he laughed and laughed, while tears flowed down his cheeks. He lay down on the grassy hill, with his back resting comfortably on the soft soil. He placed the wine bottle he was holding next to the tombstone nearby. His visions turned blurry, and slowly… he closed his eyes.
The next day, the newspaper reported the death of a man, Liam, at the age of 25. Cause of death, unknown. His body was at first kept in the local hospital’s morgue, because apparently no one ever claimed his body. His body didn’t stay in the morgue for long, after which it was buried where he was found. Strange happenings began to occur in the hospital since the night he was placed in the morgue.
Patients often hear a very pitiful cry at night. Nurses on night shifts could hear sobs from within walls. Even in the morning, doctors could see a ghastly feature of a man wandering the corridor leading to the surgery room, followed by several cries of help. Visitors had reported that they would see a shabbily dressed individual looking out through a window in an empty hallway, and when they walk pass the individual it disappears. It was said that the window was facing the hill where a lone tombstone lay.
After a thorough investigation, it was believed that the paranormal occurrences in the hospital are caused by the spirit of Liam. The police managed to track his house. His room was pretty dark as the curtains were drawn and very little sunlight was allowed to enter. The only source of light in that room is the computer monitor. Displayed on the monitor were pages and pages of a long story. The story was introduced with a bolded heading in a font size that seems to be magnified.
It was written there, “Parallel Lines”.
